Local Authorities

Over the last 18 years Jane has worked with all of the 32 Local Authorities across Scotland. Local Authorities are one of the Mudd Partnership's main clients.  Working with Education,Cultural and Community Services, Social Work and Housing, Environment and Corporate Services, we provide support through performance, Executive and team coaching, leadership consultancy, action learning, team and partnership development.

In her Skills Development role with CoSLA Jane developed the Learning and Development Strategy for Local Government and took the lead role for Scotland in the Local Government National Training Organisation (LGNTO).

Whilst in the Scottish Leadership Foundation Jane worked with Local Authorities as part of a national Change Programme, which she co-designed and facilitated; through the senior Women’s Development Network. Jane created and ran this network, as the lead for external relations in the organisation.

Leadership in Social Services

Health and Social Care Integration

We are currently involved in a range of development work to support the move towards the integration of Health and Social Care.  Activities include the facilitation of senior team development events to explore options and possibilities, coaching individuals and teams and bespoke specific team development.


Coaching in Local Authorities


These are unprecedented times for the public services. The role of the public sector, it’s constituent organisations, teams and individuals are under scrutiny. Just to make cuts is not enough. Finding different, more effective solutions to increasingly complex challenges has never been more important. The Mudd Partnership is working alongside a senior team in one Local Authority to re-examine the role of the Department itself, the senior team within that and then the individuals who make up the team. We are working with them to review and articulate their purpose and objectives and then to enable them to agree and action the changes required meet these.

Our support to date has included strategic development days, team coaching, one to one Executive coaching, performance coaching and coaching for Service redesign. The work is ongoing but the team are clear that the support we have provided has made a difference. This is particularly in relation to the team’s understanding and appreciation of the reality they are facing, a shared plan for change and development to meet identified objectives and an increased confidence individually and as a team moving forward.
